I want to talk a little bit about the six age advancing skincare mistakes you might be making because I don’t know about you, but some days I look in the mirror and I’m like, “Oh, what is going on with my skin?” And I was having one of those moments this morning.

So I went to the good old Google and found some things and I thought that I would share them with you because I know I can’t be the only one that does this, right? So I’m going to look down a little bit at my notes because I am no expert.

I went through and I realized that I was doing a lot of things wrong and they’re so easy to fix, so I’m pretty excited to share these with you. And if you stay till the end, I’ve got a special offer for you, so stick around.

#1 –  You are probably not applying your moisturizer fast enough.

I didn’t know this, but when I started reading you have like a minute by the time you wash your face to it starts drying out and then your moisturizer doesn’t go on as well and it doesn’t work as well. So it will absorb more if you do it while your skin is still damp.

I worked on that this morning and I just like put it all on really fast. It might not such a big deal for me because normally I wash my face and then do the moisturizer immediately. But in the morning, sometimes I’m distracted by my adorable little toddler running around.

So now I just try to make sure to get my skincare on and my face as fast as I can so that my face isn’t drawing out in between product. And I didn’t even know that that was a thing- didn’t even know.

#2 – You’re not washing your brushes.

This one I’ve been guilty of for a really long time and I’m going to guess that you have too, and I wanted to add it because it’s a good reminder for me to keep doing it. I am terrible at this. I know I need to do it but it’s always like, “How do I do it? And you know, what do you do it with?”

I’m pretty sure that they have like more germs than a men’s bathroom on them right now. Maybe not quite that bad cause that really grosses me out and now I feel like I need to stop this video and go flush my brushes, but they do collect so much stuff on them.

I’ll wipe them off but I don’t actually wash them that often so I’m going to set a reminder in my phone to remind myself to wash my brushes like once a week.

#3 – You sleep in your make up.

And then this one I’m guilty of every once in a while. I usually wash my face at night, but some nights I just sleep in my makeup and I read it takes a week for your skin to recover from that.

A Week! Isn’t that insane?

That’ll be motivational enough for me when I’m like getting into bed and I haven’t washed my face, I’d be like, “Ooh, I really want a week’s worth of repercussions on that? I don’t think so.”

#4 – You’re not changing your pillowcase.

I didn’t even think about this, but like you lay down on your pillow- and I’ve known for awhile that your skin rejuvenates, or you may not know that, but your skin rejuvenates and so little dead skin cells come off and if they let get buried into your pillow and they just come right back onto your face.

And I never even thought about like changing the pillow. And then I also read somewhere you should be using a silk pillowcase. I’m not that fancy. I’m not there yet. I’m still using the ones that match the bedsheets and I don’t change them every few days.

So I’m going to start doing that because now I’m kind of grossed out. And then you can always buy pillow cases separately. So I’m off to buy some pillow cases.

#5 – You’re using the same makeup for years.

I went to grab some different eye-shadow today and I grabbed it and I realized that I’ve had it for longer than my son has been born and he’s two and a half now.

So I’m like, “Ooh, it’s probably time for some new eye shadow because you know, we need to upgrade a little bit.”

And what’s been happening in that eye shadow in two and a half years? Like bacteria grows and things get in it and you know, it’s in a bathroom, well you’re washing the bathroom, but other stuff happens in the bathroom. So I just realized that my makeup is older than my son, it probably needs to go. So be upgrading that.

#6 – You’re using the same towel to dry your face as you do your hand towel.

So you have a hand towel sitting next to your sink probably and you probably use it to wash your hands during the day or at night. And then you also use it to wash your face…

And so, all that soap and stuff that’s lifted up from your hands is on that towel and then you put it on your face after your face is clean. So that’s got to stop and that’s pretty easy to fix.

I’m going to run to target and get like some of those little cheap wash cloths and use a new one every night.

So none of these are hard to fix. It’s just that I wasn’t even aware of several of them-hadn’t even thought of them, which is why I wanted to come on and share them with you.

So let me give you a quick recap.

1. You’re not applying your moisturizer or product right after you wash your skin. Don’t give your skin time to dry out.

2. You’re not washing your brushes at least once a week. Come on, come do it with me.

3. You’re sleeping in your makeup because even once is a one week that your skin takes a week to recover.

4. You’re not changing your pillowcase enough. 

5. You’re using the same makeup for years.

6. You’re using the same towel to dry your face as you do for everything else; so get a fresh towel.

And those are the six.
